Music has been part of what it means to be human since time immemorial.  Cave paintings depict people playing and dancing with animals and the discovery of a bone flute puts music even further into the Paleolithic times.  Whether it is a baby’s first lullaby or Amazing Grace as we are laid to rest, music is a part of every culture and every child.  Somewhere along the line, someone decided music was a luxury; something that could be put away for better times.  This is a dire mistake.  Music is not something extracurricular.  History shows that music will not be put aside.  Whenever we try to put music...
